Free · no ads · works offline
What is Chatterbox?
Lots of parents look for free speech therapy games for kids – something useful between appointments, or simply better than another cartoon. Chatterbox is home practice in that spirit: a web game where a friendly animal says every task out loud, and the microphone hears when your child answers.
Each day brings short Speech, Reading and Maths lessons, a few minutes each. Your child earns stars, keeps a day streak going and collects medals and achievements, so practice feels like play rather than homework.
It runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, works offline after the first launch, and has no ads and nothing to buy.
Who it’s for
Chatterbox is for children aged 4 to 12. There’s a younger track for ages 4–6 and an older track for 7 and up, so it works as one of your learning games for 5 year olds and still has plenty for a ten-year-old.
Your child picks their interests – racing, chess, K-pop, football, animals, drawing and more – and the game adapts to them. Then they choose a friend: a tiger, kitten, panda, unicorn, ghost, koala, alpaca or red panda.
What’s inside
- Speech: tongue warm-ups with pictures that show where the tongue goes, breathing exercises, tongue twisters and chants, and games for the R, L, S, Z and SH sounds.
- Reading: letters, “sound trains” that join letters together, Read and find, colour-by-letter colouring pages and a reading diary for your child’s own book.
- Maths: an abacus for mental arithmetic for little ones, Step by Step (20 timed steps from counting dots to equations) and olympiad problems for ages 8+.
- Chess: 10 levels against the computer, with a coach and hints.
- The L track: a motorbike race where reading words aloud fires the nitro, with tricks, a garage and coins.
- And more: the World Museum (1,000 famous paintings with a guide for kids), fun composers and their music, songs, a xylophone, drawing, playground physics experiments and more.
How to start

Want the stars to follow your child from the tablet to your phone? Turn on the family login.
For the whole family
The family shares one login with a password of 4 pictures (each picture stands for a digit). On any device, everyone taps themselves on Who’s playing? Children get their own game and stars; grandparents get their own screen with the week’s progress, praise and chess. More in Chatterbox for grandparents.
Brothers and sisters can take each other on in the family league and battles, or keep a team streak going together.
For parents
- A family control panel, locked with a code on your child’s phone.
- Progress stays on the device. It’s stored on the server (Cloudflare) only if you turn on the family login, and you can delete it from the control panel.
- No ads, no tracking, no purchases.
Chatterbox is home practice: it’s not a diagnosis and not a replacement for a speech and language therapist (SLT). Our guides cover the R sound, the L sound, S, Z and SH, tongue exercises and learning to read with phonics.
