Frequently asked questions
Is Chatterbox really free?
Yes. There are no ads, no purchases and nothing to unlock.
What ages is it for?
Children aged 4–12. There’s a younger track for ages 4–6 and an older track for 7 and up. Your child picks interests such as racing, chess, K-pop, football, animals or drawing, and the game adapts.
What does my child actually do in it?
Daily Speech, Reading and Maths lessons of a few minutes each, with stars, day streaks, medals and achievements. There’s also chess, the L track motorbike race, the World Museum, music, songs, drawing, playground physics experiments and more.
Which sounds does the English version practise?
R, L, S, Z and SH, with tongue warm-ups, breathing exercises, tongue twisters, chants and games. Our guides explain how to help at home: R, L and S, Z and SH.
Which devices does it work on?
Any phone, tablet or laptop with a web browser. You can add Chatterbox to your home screen so it opens like an app.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first launch, Chatterbox works without an internet connection.
Which languages is it available in?
English, Russian and Portuguese (Portugal). Each version practises the sounds of its own language.
Why does it need the microphone?
The friendly animal speaks every task aloud, and the microphone hears when your child speaks, so your child practises talking out loud rather than just tapping.
How does the family login work?
The family shares one login with a password of 4 pictures, where each picture stands for a digit. On any device, everyone taps themselves on “Who’s playing?”: children get their own game with their stars, and grandparents get their own screen. With the login on, stars sync between devices.
Do we have to use the family login?
No. Without it, your child can still play, and progress simply stays on that device.
What data is stored, and where?
Progress stays on your device. It’s stored on the server (Cloudflare) only if your family turns on the family login. There are no ads and no tracking.
How do I delete our data?
Use the family control panel for parents. On a child’s phone it’s locked with a code, so only grown-ups can open it.
Can brothers and sisters play together?
Yes. There’s a family league, battles between children and a team streak for siblings.
Is Chatterbox a replacement for a speech therapist?
No. It’s home practice, not a diagnosis and not a replacement for a speech and language therapist (SLT). If you’re worried about your child’s speech, talk to an SLT; your GP, health visitor or your child’s school can point you to one.
